Indonesia’s official currency is the Rupiah (Rp). If you use Money Changers on the streets, ask them if they charge a commission. The reason these guys are walking up and down the streets and pestering people is because tourists buy fake watches, hats, etc from them. You can choose not to buy from them. But if you decide to buy, just remember “Buyer Beware”!
Bali is a shopper’s dreamland with stores, shops & stalls selling variety craft, batik & local specialties. First price is not the last price. Learn the art of bargaining, keep a sense of humor, ask the price that the vendor expects & then counter offer. You usually pay more, but that’s the way it is.
Bali has a very exciting & vibrant nightlife. When you go out at night, take only enough cash that you will need & leave your valuables in the hotel’s safe deposit box. Whilst it is quite safe in Bali, there are pickpockets & other undesirables around, so be careful when out on the streets/in the bars.
It is recommended to use only metered taxis. You can arrange Taxi or car rental with the hotel’s Concierge or Guest Services.
For your own safety, we recommend to not reveal your room number to strangers, beach boys, tour guides, etc. Usually they will call you endlessly to buy something or even pass information about you to others. Do not invite beach boys into the hotel or your room, for your own safety & peace of mind.
We do not recommend drinking the tap water in Bali. Drink bottled water whenever you are thirsty. When buying bottled water, make sure the seal is not broken. Two bottles are provided in your room daily on a complimentary basis.
Bali is a tropical island. The average temperature hovers around 30° Celsius year-round. There are dry seasons (April – September) & wet seasons (October to March). In general May to August are the best months in Bali which likely to be cooler & the rains lightest.
In Kuta, you are sure to have a great time. If you are in an uncomfortable situation, simply smile, apologize, and if necessary, leave quickly. Don’t put yourself in a situation which could land you in trouble.
